Who and how one should fight against violence against women?

Kazakhstan’s women are active in business, lead large teams, receive a good education, and still face physical and sexual violence. And those women who could not get a higher education or have a disability are worse off.

Early marriages still take place  in the country. Minor girls find themselves in a position when their parents force them to become a wife. They are highly dependent on their spouse and don’t get a full education, which makes them vulnerable to poverty and violence.

Over the past couple of years, we have started to pay more attention to all these problems, but is this enough to eradicate violence? Akmarzhan Kusherbaeva, singer, activist and UNFPA speaker in Kazakhstan, answers questions about violence against women.
